Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a system of changing content channels in IP multicasting as smoothly and quickly as TV channel switching. Generally, content-channel switching in IP multicasting is achieved by switching multicast groups, that is, leaving an old group and joining a new group. In a shared CDN access, there may be the jitter in video pictures caused by the simultaneous flow of data from old and new groups known as the IGMP "leave latency" problem. In this study, we investigated the switching of multicast groups by combining i) multicast session management composed of multicast groups, client's IP addresses and user IDs and ii) a "Fast Leave" method. This system has the feature that multicast data is started quickly after a "Join" message and stopped by only a "Leave Group" message without a "Group-Specific Query" message when there is no client joining the same group. Moreover, multicast data continues flowing even if one client sends a "Leave Group" message when another client has joined the same group. We also confirmed that the time for content-channel switching was within about 7 ms.
