Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In wireless LAN access, since the bandwidth of wireless channel is strictly limited, many congestions occur at the interconnection between the wired and wireless link. In order to reduce the congestion, We can increase the transmission rate of the wireless link by employing spectral efficient modulation formats such as multi level QAM. However, those packet transmission error rates are very high in the poor wireless channel. If many packet errors occur in wireless link, the packet retransmission mechanism of TCP protocol performs inefficient retransmission again and again. As a result, the throughput of wireless Internet is severely degraded. This paper proposes a new type of adaptive wireless transmission scheme for TCP/UDP in the wireless LAN access. The proposed scheme employs reliable modulation format for TCP, which requires high reliability, and bandwidth efficient modulation format for UDP, which requires low delay and jitter. We confirm that the proposed scheme effects the TCP throughput with computer simulations.
