Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In a WDM single- hop network using a passive star coupler, a contention-based reservation protocol for variable length messages is proposed by using mini-slot control channels for wavelength assignment. However, the protocol has a problem of low throughput for short messages. In this paper, we propose an algorithm which reduces the collisions among reservation packets. It enables improved throughput variable length messages. By the proposed algorithm, the access node in a reservation state is changed into the state of the waiting for resending under a certain probability. Controlling the number of the access nodes with the state of the waiting for re-sending, a reservation packet is transmitted to per-mini slot.
