Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We study the multiplexing gain of statistically independent packet flows, each of which is transparent to (fully compliant with) a deterministic regulator, e.g., a token bucket. We show that if packet flows are transparent to regulators with subadditive traffic envelopes, then they allow "mean-rate-base multiplexing" when the number of flows is enough large. Furthermore, we show that if each flow is statistically assigned bandwidth larger than its mean rate, then the waiting time of each packet at a network link exponentially decays to zero as the number of flows increases. This suggests that large multiplexing gain might be obtained, even if the number of flows is not so large. |
