On quality of real-time communication in W-CDMA Networks and its improvement

Abstract(in English) Mobile networks have been expanding and IMT-2000 further increases their available bandwidth over wireless links. Thus, in addition to non-real-time communications such as e-mail and web browsing, real-time communications such as voice and movie have been attractive over wireless networks. However, in the wireless networks, a transmission delay time increases because of recovering the lost packets caused by high bit error rates. It leads to the degradation of the quality of real-time communications. Therefore, in this research, we will propose the mechanisms for achieving improvement in the quality of real-time communications without having an adverse affect on the performance of non-real-time communications in W-CDMA networks and investigate the effectiveness of proposed mechanisms by means of simulations.
