Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recent interests in "capacity-approaching codes" have their origin in low complexity iterative probabilistic decoding. This approach approximates the symbol-wise a posteriori probabilities and can be naturally extended to joint detection and decoding of many coded systems. In this paper, we first review iterative decoding and detection for coded partial response channels as well as some (limited number of) recent results. We next examine an iterative reliability-based decoding for coded partial response channels. Certain performance improvement is observed upon the conventional systems, and we shed some lights on the behavior of iterative processing.
