Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have previously shown that the single-pole-type (SPT) head with tapered main pole, tapered return path on trailing side, and side shield yokes generates large recording field, large recording field gradient and small stray field to the adjacent tracks as well as recording field distribution robust for skew. This report deals the SPT head that has main pole with double-sided tapers. With the double-tapered main pole, the SPT head generates larger field (> 20 kOe) compared to SPT head with single-sided tapered main pole. The recording field distributions are noted for various soft material properties.
