Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this report, the effect of magnetic cluster sizes and transition widths on medium noise is experimentally investigated for CoPtCr-SiO_2 granular media. We find that the transition width is proportional to the magnetic cluster size and the transition width becomes narrower by reducing the magnetic cluster size. The larger magnetic clusters are the cause of the medium noise and lower medium noise is achieved by minimizing the cluster size. We confirm that the magnetic cluster size is dominated by the intergranular exchange coupling strength and the reduction of the coupling strength reduces the cluster size.
