Color Texture Image Retrieval Using Fuzzy Similarity

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a color texture image retrieval system based on Fuzzy theory. Color textures are composed of color, structure, pattern and randomness. The representation of texture gives user the diversity and obscurity. Then the order of feature vectors becomes large. In this research, in order to reduce the color features naturally, the color histogram in Lab space is processed by Fuzzy c-means (FCM) to obtain Fuzzy color histogram (FCH). Further, as for the pattern and randomness, the wavelet decomposition is introduced to obtain the principal basis of wavelet moment (PWM). Using reduced feature vectors of a large scale texture database images, we retrieve the desired texture image based on Fuzzy reasoning in the simulations. It is shown that the desired texture is effectively retrieved with small amount of computation by the proposed method.
