Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Various factors such as noise and small features at texture regions that obstruct proper image segmentation generally exist in an image. We apply an anisotropic diffusion algorithm combining morphology filter to color images as pre-processing of segmenting noisy color images in order to remove noise and small features at texture regions. We improve a morphology filter by using new structuring elements and propose to select each element according to edge infomation. We try to smooth texture regions using the directional continuity of the edge. We also improve an anisotropic diffusion algorithm by determining the diffusion coefficient and the number of diffusion automatically. The proposed method shows the capability of good pre-processing for the segmentation of noisy color images.
