Abstract(in English) We propose an S-band active phased array antenna with analog phase shifters. We have developed a phase shifter using double balanced mixers (DBM-PS) in the S-band of frequency. A QPSK modulator IC was used as the DBM-PS. It could set both the amplitude and phase of the input signal continuously and independently by setting the control voltages. The amplitude and phase variation during phase rotation were -0.6 dB to 0.7 dB and -1.7° to 1.2°, respectively. The range in which the amplitude could be linearly changed was 7 dB. The S-band active phased array antenna with DBM-PSs for mobile vehicles to handle satellite communications exhibited sufficient performance in terms of beam-pointing resolution (0.04°), beam-pointing accuracy especially in the null pointing (0.4°rms), and sidelobe suppression availability with amplitude taper achieved by setting the amplitude of DBM-PSs.
