Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) MIMO space division multiplexing (SDM) transmission is a possible way to improve the frequency usage in mobile radio communications. An SDM transmission system uses the mutually orthogonal eigenbeams to transmit different substreams simultaneously at the same frequency. For an SDM system that uses mutually orthogonal beams, site dependence of the substream quality is predicted to obtain the system parameters. Results on bit error rate and delay spread show that an SDM beamforming does not alleviate BER degradation due to multipath, and that the SDM transmission is sensitive to an environmental change. We conclude that the robustness is a key to implement an SDM transmission.
