Abstract(in English) | This paper presents the propagation path loss in the line-of-sight (LOS) case for Inter-Vehicle Communications (IVC) at 60GHz. The consideration involves both polarization of a transmitted wave and undulations of a surface of a road. The distance characteristics of the propagation path losses for the vertically and horizontally polarized waves calculated by a 2-wave model are derived by statistically processing a number of data that are obtained by changing the height of the antennas. Consequently, there is little difference between the propagation path losses for both of the polarized waves at 50 % and 10%. In the region where the distance between the antennas is less than 60m, the propagation path loss at 90% for the vertically polarized wave is smaller than that for the horizontally polarized wave by 3.1dB at the maximum. Furthermore, the effect of undulations of a surface of a road on the propagation path loss has been evaluated. It is found that variations of the reflection coefficient caused by the undulation of a road result in the variation in the received power of more than 20dB in comparison with a flat road. The total propagation path loss is obtained by multiplying the distance characteristics of the propagation path loss by the additional propagation path loss caused by a motion of the communication vehicles over the undulating road. |
