A Study on Broadbanding Technique for Microstrip Dipole Antenna

Abstract(in English) Broadbanding techniques for microstrip dipole antennas are discussed in this report. Firstly, we propose a planar-type dipole antenna printed on a dielectric substrate. The antenna is composed of self-complementary radiating elements and a microstrip line. Fundamental characteristics of the proposed antenna are evaluated by FDTD analysis and measurements. It is verified that bandwidth of VSWR ≤ 2 and relatively omni-directional radiation in the azimuth plane can be achieved over the FCC approved UWB frequency range of 3.1 to 10.6GHz. Measured transmission characteristics of the antenna are also presented.
