Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A multiple-layer filter embedded in an optical waveguide is investigated using the beam propagation method. We first discuss the expression for the exact power. Next, to realize an intersection angle of 90° with small polarization dependence, we propose a modified demultiplexer in which two multiple-layer filters with a waveguide intersection angle of 45° are used. For the TE and TM waves, the reflectivity of 97% and 88% is obtained, respectively. To further improve the property of the multiple-layer filter, we introduce a spacer layer with a half-wavelength thickness. As a result, the reflectivity and transmissivity are calculated to be 98 % and 98 % for the TE wave, and 95 % and 94 % for the TM wave, respectively.
