Abstract(in English) | 21GHz-band satellite broadcasting is expected for one of advanced satellite broadcasting system capable of ultrahigh-definition TV and multi-channel HDTV broadcasting. To overcome large signal attenuation caused by rainfall in the 21GHz-band, we are now moving forward on on-board large phased array antennas that will increase the radiation power only for rainfall areas to compensate for rain attenuation. Imaging reflector antenna is a strong candidate for antenna configuration of 21-GHz band broadcasting satellites from the viewpoint of wide beam scanning characteristics and small range of excitation power variation. In this article, the relationship between the antenna gain and configuration parameters such as an aperture diameter of radiating element and magnification coefficient were studied. The radiation pattern was designed to compensate for rain attenuation by adjusting the amplitude and phase of excitation signals fed to the feed array. Then, we evaluated the radiation pattern designed by adjusting only phase of excitation signals while each amplitude was fixed. As a result, it was confirmed that the performance of radiation pattern was almost comparable to the radiation pattern designed by controlling both of amplitude and phase. Furthermore, the power efficiency could be improved. |
