Abstract(in English) | In evaluating the performance of the UWB-IR systems, there are 2 major issues to be examined: 1) the waveform distortion caused by the variation of the frequency characteristics for both antennas and propagation channels and 2) the variation of the antenna transfer function ,when the relative looking angle between transmitting antenna and receiving antenna is changed. In case of Ad-hoc mode, which consists of UWB-IR based multiple mobile terminals distributed in the azimuth-plane, the required processing load at the receiver-side is increased since the template waveform as a reference is to be selected adaptively for various directions of the terminals. In this paper, the transmission characteristics of a novel UWB-IR system equipped with pre-distortion equalization has been investigated for several structural parameters of the EDM(Elliptical Disk Monopole) antenna by using two indicators in the time domain: 1) cross correlation and 2) transmission loss. Also, the effects of the waveform distortion caused by the scatter placed near-by antennas have been evaluated in terms of the transmission characteristics measured by BERs in order to assess the proposed method by comparing with MB-OFDM system and DS-UWB system. |
