Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, the throughput performance of a code division multiple access (CDMA) system that employs a powerful error-correcting code such as turbo codes is analyzed to develop a better multiple access system in a satellite communications environment. Comparisons to a single-channel-per-carrier frequency division multiple access (FDMA) system is also carried out. Theoretical results are presented. The results show that the CDMA approach with a powerful error-correcting code provides greater throughput than the FDMA and also the feasibility of the spread-spectrum approach to multiple accessing in satellite communications.
