Pre-Equalization Using MMSE Estimation for TDD/MC-CDMA Systems

Abstract(in English) To make smoothly connection with a base station (BS), time division duplex (TDD) systems using the reciprocity of uplink and downlink in the same frequency band have been considered. If the coherence time is large enough compared with the duplexing time, TDD systems can provide the channel characteristics of downlink from those of uplink. Thus, the channel distortion can be compensated in advance as a pre-compensation at the BS (Pre-Equalization) and the equalization processing at the mobile terminal (MT) is unnecessary, which makes the receiver less complex. However, when the coherence time is not so large compared with the duplexing time, it is expected that the system suffers from the channel mismatch by time-selective fading. In this report, we propose a Pre-Equalization using MMSE channel estimation for TDD multi-carrie code-division multiple-access (TDD/MC-CDMA). As the algorithm for deriving the equalization coefficients of the proposed technique, we use Zero-Forcing (ZF) algorithm, Controlled Equalization (CE) algorithm, and Minimum Mean Square Error Equalization (MMSEE) algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed technique is effective even on time-selective fading channels.
