Abstract(in English) | It is anticipated that quality assurance (QA) for the payload system development program of the communication and broadcasting satellite may be a core technical factor to be concerned in order to avoid any failures, and assure its final performance during the mission lifetime in space. National Astronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the U.S.A. and major communication satellite manufacturers have been performing the quality assurance activities for their successful mission to all satellite programs. The Communications and Broadcasting Satellite (CBS) payload system was developed to provide the multimedia services in the Korean peninsula and subordinates by ETRI and its co-developers, i.e., Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), Korean Air (KAL), Telwave and KoSAPCE that were required to have the quality assurance program in order to make the relevant development successful. The CBS payload system comprises Ku & Ka-band payloads, and each payload consists of a transponder and an antenna. In this paper, the quality assurance established by the development of CBS payload system is described for configuration control, hardware quality control, reliability analysis, parts, materials and processes control, and safety control. Since ETRI and its co-developers got several certificates in the fields of manufacturing environment, manufacturing operators, product assurance process, assembly, integration and test process, and in-house development items by Alenia Spazio, ETRI will be allowed to develop the flight model payload for the development of Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite (COMS) in accordance with product assurance process. |
