Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The first multi-functional geosynchronous satellite in Korea, COMS(Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite), is planned to launch in 2008. KARI, the leading organization of COMS program, is charged with the satellite systems, bus, meteorological/ocean sensor, and ground station development. In the initial phase of the COMS program, a conceptual design of the satellite system and bus is achieved as well as the establishment of technical requirements. The set-up of the system requirements(draft) of the COMS is outlined to realize the multi-missions of communication, ocean and meteorology. Such as satellite bus subsystems and ground station systems, the conceptual design and technical requirement analysis are performed for those space and ground segments. Results obtained from these preliminary studies of the COMS program play an important role in the initial system design of the COMS.
