Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A guided-wave electroopotic modulator using resonant electrode of coupled microstrip lines is proposed. The electrode structure can induce a high voltage by using the resonance of the odd propagation mode to realize efficient electrooptic modulation in spite of the microstrip-line configuration. The modulation electrodes were designed at lOGHz and 26 GHz using an electrode of the half-wavelength coupled microstrip line resonator. The electrode lengths are 3mm and 1.2mm for lOGHz and 26GHz operation, respectively. Modulators using the electrodes were fabricated with LiTaO_3 substrates and their workability was experimentally confirmed.
