Abstract(in English) Orthogonal Frequency and Code Division Multiplexing (OFCDM) systems are expected for next generation wireless multi-rate communication systems. OFCDM can realize variable bit rates by using the variable spreading gain technique. However, this technique requires the spreading code generator that can generate the spreading codes with the various spreading gains. One of the drawbacks of OFCDM systems is that OFCDM signals have high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). The spreading code selections for reducing PAPR have been proposed for OFCDM. However, it requires to send the selected codes to all the users in each symbol. In this report, we propose a multirate OFCDM system that can realize two classes of data rates with Orthogonal Variable Spreading Factor (OVSF) codes and a sequence encoder for each user. The proposed multirate OFCDM can realize a high bit rate by dividing an OFCDM code and sending data in parallel with each of the divided OFCDM codes. The divided OFCDM code is selected to reduce the PAPR of the resultant OFCDM symbol. We show that in the proposed multirate OFCDM system, high-rate users can achieve better error rate performance than the users in the multicode multirate OFCDM system at the same bit rate, and low-rate users can achieve the identical error rate performance.
