Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a lattice structure and a design method for the symmetric orthogonal and biorthogonal multiwavelets. As is the case with scalar filter banks, the order of their polyphase matrix is lowered in accordance with the symmetry and the (bi-)orthogonality. In consequence, a construction approach of orthogonal and biorthogonal multiwavelets based on the lattice structure of the rotation matrices is presented. Hence, these multiwavelet filter banks satisfy the symmetric property and (bi-)orthogonality structurally. Then we consider the equivalent scalar filter bank to multiwavelet filter bank and present an efficient technique that the lattice coefficients are determined optimizing the cost function based on the magnitude response of the equivalent scalar system. Finally we apply the proposed multiwavelets to image coding and show the validity of our scheme.
