Experimental Results on Multipath Interfernce Canceller coupled with Adaptive Modulation and Channel Coding in HSDPA

Abstract(in English) This paper presents laboratory experimental results on Multipath Interference Canceller (MPIC) associated with adaptive modulation and channel coding (AMC) using fading simulators in High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA). In the experiments, wre employed four modulation and channel coding schemes (MCSs) such as MCS1 (QPSK modulation and coding rate R = 1/2), MCS2 (QPSK and R = 3/4), MCS3 (16QAM and R = 1/2), and MCS4 (16QAM and R = 3/4) along with 9-code multiplexing with the spreading factor of SF-16. Experimental results indicate that MPIC with AMC could improve average throughput by approximately 1.0 (0.8) Mbps (i.e., the resultant average throughput of approximately 4.0 (3.3) Mbps) compared to matched filter-based Rake receiver at the average received signal energy per chip-to-background noise spectrum density ratio (E_c/ N_o) more than 17 dB in 2-path fading channel when the average received power of the second path was smaller by 6dB (OdB) than that of the first one with the Doooler freauencv off_D = 5Hz.
