Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The next generation mobile communication systems require high data rate, high capacity and wide area coverage. The future system is assumed to operate at higher frequency band than the present system. However, propagation loss increases at high frequency band. This results in a smaller cell. This means a large number of base stations (BS) will be required, which push costs higher. Thus, the transmit power of the future system must be higher than the present system to achieve both high data rate and wide area coverage. However, the transmit powrer is limited for various reasons, especially in case of uplink. Distributed ba.se stations (DBS) have been proposed for 4G wireless communication systems. DBSs are composed of several sub base stations (SBS) and a central BS. SBSs are used to receive signals from mobile terminals (MT) and the received signal at SBSs are combined at the central BS. In this paper, we study the performance of DBS system from the aspect of area coverage, transmit power at MT and system capacity. Furthermore we propose sub cell expanding DBS system and we confirm the effectiveness of this system by computer simulation.
