Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) High-speed and high-capacity communication is required in 4G mobile communication. However lack of frequency in the lower frequency band (IGHz, 2GHz) results in usage of higher frequency band (5GHz). These bands suffer for increased propagation loss. Therefore mobile terminals (MT) need to have higher transmission powers. However, because of limited available transmission power at MTs, BSs cell size will be limited. To maintain coverage, more BSs need to be deployed, resulting in increased infrastructure cost. To solve this problem, a system that has some simple relay sub-base station for uplink and downlink is proposed. Due to imbalance of uplink and downlink traffic-, it is expected that capacity requirements are much higher in the downlink. In this paper, we discribe a CDMA-based Distributed Base Station (BS+SBS) system that fulfills coverage requirements. We evaluate the proposed system downlink performance through computer simulation and demonstrate an overall increased system capacity.
