Abstract(in English) Various schemes have recently been proposed to implement BD/DVD compatibility. For such compatibility, a polarization-free optical system that is independent of the polarization on both BD and DVD is expected for a higher coupling efficiency of light power and a simpler optical design. We have proposed BD/DVD compatible pick-up by the use of polarization-free wave-front correction elements. We have analyzed various properties of wave-front correction elements, and developed the well-balanced elements. In this report, we will present the design method of such wave-front correction elements.
