Abstract(in English) | We have developed the PMD/CD compensator which can compensate simultaneously both polarization mode dispersion (PMD) and chromatic dispersion (CD) for the first time. This device is composed of twin chirped fiber Bragg gratings, two Peltier elements and two divided thin film heaters. This device controls differential group delay (DGD : first order PMD) by changing the temperature difference of twin chirped fiber Bragg gratings and CD by changing the linear temperature distributions. We confirmed that eye opening penalty for this device was well low for practical use by the simulation of optical 40G transmission. |
