Study on Functional Devices of Piezo-Electric Material with Structural Array

Abstract(in English) The propagation waves which spreads into a periodic structure have the characteristics, such as a reflection and a resonance. Also, in periodic array as a sonic crystal or a photonic crystal, the waves have many attractive characteristics of propagation such as a stop band, a pass band and wave guide. These characteristics are interested in application of filter, sensors, and jairo devices. In order to realize these characteristics of wave propagation in the periodic structure with small size, a larger difference of acoustic impedance between material that form periodic structure is required. In this paper, we study basic propagating characteristics of acoustic wave in the periodic structure for realizing a small size and high-functional device. As a basic study, we fabricated various periodic structure on a piezo-electric substrate. We investigated the frequency characteristics and waveguide effect of wave propagation in the structure. Experimental results indicated that pass band and two dimensional direction of SAW propagation would be applied to fabricate the devices such as filtering and switching.
