Quick Chargeable and High Power Organic Radical Battery

Abstract(in English) We have developed a high-power organic radical battery, ORB, with a poly(2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyloxy methacrylate) radical, PTMA cathode. Because of a smooth and fast electrochemical reaction for the PTMA cathode, ORB is able to charge and discharge with high current density. Indeed, the fabricated ORB cell can be charged up to 80% of the original capacity within 30 seconds. Furthermore, the cell shows a high power density of 4 kW/kg and is capable of driving a various information systems such as desktop PC and PDAs for several minutes. The quick chargeable and high power ORB opens up a new field of high power density, environmentally friendly batteries.
