High-speed Tracking Method using ZPET-FF Control for High-Data-Rate Optical Disk Drives

Abstract(in English) We confirmed the effectiveness of the ZPET-FF control method of the tracking servo for high-data-rate optical disk drives, as we are developing an optical disk system to record high-definition television signals for broadcast use. The optical disk system requires a high data transfer rate of more than 200 Mbps. Therefore, fast and precise track-following control is indispensable. We compared the characteristics of ZPET-FF control with that of conventional feedback control or repetitive control. Experimental results show that ZPET-FF control is more precise than feedback control, and residual tracking error is reduced to 10nm at a linear velocity of 26m/s using a blue-violet laser optical head.
