Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The possibility of creation low-dimension materials with artificial structures and controllable atomic arrangement is important from the viewpoint of forthcoming nano-electronics age. In the present study we demonstrate how the In-induced surface reconstruction of Si(001) substrate changes the kinetics of Sb adsorption that results in the formation of a new Sb-Si surface phase with mixed (8×2)+(4×2) structure. The possible atomic arrangement of the (8×2)+(4×2) reconstruction along with the formation process are discussed based on results of RHEED, AES and STM experiments.
