Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we present a scheme for processing large-scale XML data using partial compression. In order to process large-scale XML data efficiently, XML processors require large amount of memory, as well as high speed CPUs, from the nature of XML data. However, in general, there exists locality in XML data access, that is, we can find some portions that are accessed more frequently than elsewhere. In our proposed scheme, for XML data being processed, we assume that typical queries and their frequencies are known in advance. Based on the information, we can decide portions that are accessed less frequently. We can reduce the data size by compressing such parts. This enables us to process queries without decompression, even if the queries refer to the compressed parts. |
