Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is not easy to find useful information from the Web information space, which is currently a huge database of weakly-structured information. Conventional link navigation functions of Web browsers does not present the "circumference information space", but does only a target Web page. Presenting the "circumference information space" concerned with a visiting Web page will lead to more effective information search in the huge Web information space. In the real world, wherever we navigate a real world, we can see not only the target place but also its circumference space. With the analogy of such a real-world circumference space, we introduce the concept of the circumference information space" for Web. Our circumference space is dynamically generated based on a user's navigation history. In order to visualize the generated circumference space, we introduce the concept of "WebSign", which is a visual guidance to the circumference space based on the traffic-control sign metaphor.
