Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a method of dynamic resource allocation, intended for parallel database processing on a server cluster system. Here dynamic resource allocation means a function which can allocate resources, such as CPU power and I/O bandwidth, to a application on demand. Conventional server cluster systems, which adopt mainly shared-nothing configurations of storage, have difficulties in dynamic resource allocation. We have tried to resolve this issue by the use of shared storage pool, which makes possible centralized I/O control. We show experimental results using a parallel datamining application, which reflect advantage of the proposed method.
