Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To estimate the acoustic back scattering cross section of a fish, three dimensional morphometry of the fish body structure by X-ray computed tomography (X-ray CT) and numerical calculation of the acoustic scattering of a fish by the boundary element method (BEM) is tested on a sample fish. The shapes of four parts of fish body, namely, the body surface, swim bladder, bones, and otolithes, are successfully extracted from the tomograms. However, extracting the shapes of internal organs, such as, the stomach, liver, is still difficult. The meshed surface data, the triangulated fish body and swim bladder surfaces, are automatically generated and used for the input data of the BEM calculation. The shape of the bones is, however, too complex to be triangulated automatically.
