Consideration on Broad IF-Band Band-Pass Filter for Multiple TV Signal Distribution System at Millimeter Wave Band

Abstract(in English) An IF-band band-pass filter was designed for a multiple TV signal distribution system at millimeter-wave band. Main emphasis was placed on a broad-band performance in the pass-band and a sharp skirt cutoff nature in the rejection-band because the TV signals consist of more than 100 channels and other applications exist in neighboring frequency-bands. We devised a band-pass filter by assembling low-pass and high-pass filters, whose responses were chosen to be elliptic function type. To avoid inductors, short ended stubs, a high impedance transmission line, and the Kuroda's transformation were applied to construct filters. The band-pass filter was designed so as be 65% in the relative pass-bandwidth and more than 20dB attenuations in frequencies 5% apart from the low and high cutoff frequencies. The insertion and return losses of this filter were less than 1 dB and larger than 10dB, respectively, in the pass band, and besides, the circuit pattern was contained in the area of 0.1λ x 0.2λ.
