Abstract(in English) | Ultra Wideband (UWB) has recently attracted much attention as an indoor short range high-speed wireless communication. Of all UWB systems, UWB-Impulse Radio (IR) and Direct Sequence (DS)-UWB uses an extreme wideband and has the advantage of the extremely high path resolution. The RAKE receiver is known as a technique that can effectively combine multipaths with different delays, obtain the path diversity gain, and improve the transmission characteristics. However, multipaths are spread over the range of dozens of symbols in the case of ultra high-speed communications to several hundreds Mbps, so the transmission channel is frequency selective. As a result, the transmission performance degrades. Meanwhile, the Single-Carrier (SC) transmission with Frequency Domain Equalization (FDE) has also recently attracted much attention. It is reported that the SC with FDE has few problems of PAPR and also acquires an excellent performance as well as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) even in the strong frequency selective channel where multipaths are spread over the range of dozens of symbols. In this report, we consider UWB-IR and DS-UWB with MMSE-FDE. We evaluate the bit error rate (BER) of UWB-IR with Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE)-FDE and compare it to that of each UWB system with Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC)-RAKE receiver and MMSE-RAKE receiver. |
