Interference Canceller for MC-CDMA Downlink to Reduce Effect of Multi-path Wave with Delay Time Exceeding Guard Interval in Presence of Output Power Difference among Users

Abstract(in English) In a mobile communication system with MC-CDMA, a multi-path effect can be reduced by addition of a guard interval to a transmitted symbol. However, a multi-path wave with a delay time exceeding the guard interval degrades the error rate performance. In this paper, we propose a multi-path interference canceller with multi-user demodulation to improve the error rate performance for downlink in the system. The proposed canceller demodulates signals of all users in a cell, and decides the obtained symbols of the users. A received signal replica is generated with the decision results. An interference level can be reduced by an exchange of interfered samples with the replica samples. We estimate a required control range of relative output power for downlink in the system through a computer simulation, considering output power difference among the users. The simulation results show that the proposed canceller requires that the control range of the relative output power is less than or equal to 6 dB when a multi-path wave has a delay time exceeding double the guard interval.
