Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report deals with information environment in daily life for people with special needs including elderly people and people with disabilities, from the viewpoint of universal and seamless information/communication services. ICTs (Information communication Technologies) provide various communication devices and services. These situations, in one hand, improve communication environment and, in the other hand, generate gaps called digital divide between those who have access and who do not. We adopt the concept of information interface and focus on these information/communication situations with the use of Mobile VideoPhones and Television broadcasting systems as examples. From these examples, we can say that improving information environment consists of various and complicated issues. A direct relation between a user of the device and the device itself is important, and this relation is constructed further with other issues such as technological and social ones.
