Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Since data storage services play a very important role in the IT infrastructures, it is unacceptable to stop the services even if upgrade of their system software is required. We have proposed the Autonomous Disk as a highly available storage system. It is also important to make it possible for an Autonomous Disk Cluster to upgrade software without stopping its services. In this paper, we propose a method of migrating data between symbiosis virtual nodes within a physical disk to realize the non-stop system upgrade. An empty virtual node made by the data migration is ready to be upgraded. We compare the throughput and response time of the proposed method with those of the traditional detach-and-attach method using an experimental system.
