Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An Automatic Train Stop (ATS) system is introduced in almost all narrow-gauge lines of Japan Railway companies. However, this system essentially has a problem that the ATS function is disabled when the driver properly has executed acknowledgement operation. Thus, we are developing a new ATS system that has a continuous control function. The feature of this system is to allow selecting the function levels depending on the needs and conditions of each line and maintain interoperability between the existing and new systems. According to the system condition, the system reduces its functions while keeping the safety at the same level as that of the existing ATS system. This paper reports the study on the safety and stability of this system.
