Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Configurable, passive probing mechanisms provide a nice solution for monitoring the new generation IPv6 networks. These probes do not interfere with existing network devices and can be configured to measure the traffic metrics of interest. We surveyed the management design of the new protocols and existing MIBs and, then designed and implemented a Passive Monitor MIB to supplement the available monitoring facilities of the devices in a flexible and configurable form. As a field experiment, passive probes have been deployed in multiple locations to collect and service information. We also designed a new application to service the information to users.
