Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this abstract, methods biased on local pattern spectrum in greyscale morphology are proposed for measurement of pattern size, which can be in isotropic manner by using spherical structuring element and in anisotropic manner by using multi-directional linear structuring elements. Measured size defined here is an attribute based on local pattern spectrum at a pixel/voxel and is given for each. For the anisotropic manner, it is shown that pattern classification to blob, linear, and planar types is feasible by approximating directional pattern size profile as quadratic form of symmetric matrix, similar to a method based on eigen values of Hessian matrix. By using synthetic data and 3D medical image data, several experiments were performed in terms of size estimation and direction estimation. Based on comparison with other related methods, advantages and disadvantages are discussed.
