Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | In the conventional on-line character input system, two or more character entry frames are prepared for discernment of one character. However, this method is directly inapplicable to blind person because they cannot see character entry frames. We already have developed the Japanese input system for blind person. The user has inputted segment point between characters using a hand-controller in our previous pen input system. This paper proposes the automatic segmentation method of the on-line overlapping characters written by blind person. The position of character separation is based on the Mahalanobis distance using the amounts of the features, such as a distance and an angle of a pen movement, and its time. In addition we use the grammar rule and tri-gram probability of each character in our system. From the experimental results, we confirmed that segmentation ratio of character was 92.6 %, and recognition rate was decreased 7 % less than our previous manual segmentation method. |
