Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Several automatic braille translation applications have been developed to convert Japanese documents to Braille documents. The applications automatically convert sentences to the braiile sentences. This conversion is subject to the rules of wakachi-gaki. This environment and function is practical enough, but crucial problems still remain; this conversion is for single Japanese sentence, and no rayout rule for braille document is included in the process. We designed a pre-processing filter that converts a word-processor document to a text documents. The Japanese document is first saved as an HTML file. The present filter analyzes the tags in the HTML file since there are tags to represent rayout of Japanese sentence. The present pre-processing filter presents a function to convert an HTML file to a Japanese text file semi-automatically.
