Abstract(in English) | TV closed caption service is the benefit of hearing impaired viewers. Its availability, however, is very low in Japan because the closed captioning is a time-consuming and costly task. The main aim of this study is to establish the technology of producing off-line TV closed captions efficiently using natural language processing and speech signal processing techniques. Transcribed text of TV programs is automatically summarized/shortened, page-formatted and synchronized with the speech, then superimposed on the original programs as the closed catrtion. This automatic captioning system does not need skilled worker and it is expected to contribute to increase of TV closed caption service. |
