Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | This study is an attempt to estimate drivers' tiredness and driving workload using a random number generation (RNG) task, which has been recognized as one which taps the capacity of the central executive in working memory theory. A newly devised "Axis model" was introduced so as to analyze RNG performance with unpaced condition. In Exp.l, the RNG task was administered several times before and after driving. The results showed that driving tiredness had detrimental effects on the time efficiency of the RNG task after every driving session. In Exp.2, to estimate driving workload, the RNG task was administered simultaneously as a subsidiary task while performing a driving video game. The results suggested that the measure of counting strategy is the promising index of driving workload. |
