Estimation Method for Driving Risk from Hazard Information

Abstract(in English) It is important for drivers to judge accurate risks to avoid traffic accident. This paper describes a method to estimate driving risks from hazard information such as cars and pedestrians. We extract hazard information manually from video sequences while driving. To predict time series of risks evaluated by instructors of a driving school, where we assume as reference values of risks, the multiple regression equation is derived from hazard information in some driving scenes, location and speed of the car. As a result, the correlation coefficient of the model is 0.973 in the case of 96 variables. In addition, this model suggested that the coefficient for a parking car is twice as a number of cars or the aged pedestrians.
